What is most pivotal for community schools from a financing standpoint is money to pay for a Community School Coordinator. They can be employed by a school district, community-based organization or public agency.
Review the resources on making the case for funding coordinators, and federal funding opportunities available to fund community schools, and specifically community school coordinators.
If you have more questions or want to share best practices, please feel free to post here. Remember, this is a private space for coordinators.
It would be interesting to have a blind survey to see the range of salaries pertaining to this position across America! :)
According to the Finance Study by the Coalition for the Community Schools, on average across the country, 7% of the community school site budget is spent on the coordination position. Here is the link to the paper: http://www.communityschools.org/assets/1/AssetManager/finance-paper...
I can build an anonymous survey if more folks are interested.
I would agree with Kate and be interested in a survey on the range of surveys across the country for Coordinators of Community Schools.
